Is it weird that I don't want to be spoiled w/ attention or gifts?

I know this guy and hes not like the guy that would buy you gifts all the time buy u flowers and make u dinner all the time and totally pamper u, but for some wierddd reason, i like that; he%26#039;s really independent and it puts less pressure on me. Im just not used to a guy pampering me and spoiling me w/ attention/gifts and it feels weird to have that. It makes the man look desperate and thats a turn off for me. Am I strange?

Is it weird that I don%26#039;t want to be spoiled w/ attention or gifts?
No. My boyfriend doesn%26#039;t do that either. He shows his love other ways. That way I know it is genuine. Plus without the gifts you have no awkward silences or pressure to get him stuff. Its the best way to go. I just wish more girls would realize this.
Reply:No. You sound like a very sensible, together young lady. Good luck.
Reply:Ahaha no not at all! I think of men like that as men who waste that money on pointless items that you%26#039;ll probably NEVER use ever again. It%26#039;s like they%26#039;re trying to buy you. Either that or they%26#039;re just giving you more things to store in the house somewhere...to find room for and more stuff to throw away if you ever decide to break up. It is as if he%26#039;s so desperate that he%26#039;s trying to win you over with gifts and trying to make sure that you don%26#039;t go off with someone else. They%26#039;re trying to make themselves feel better about being with you. It%26#039;s not strange. I totally understand.
Reply:no my friend feels the same way...she wont take any gifts from her boyfriend. if u dont like it, it makes it easier (and cheaper) for both of you.
Reply:I completely agree with you, I always think that he%26#039;s trying to compensate for something....like buy your love.
Reply:No, it%26#039;s understandable. I can%26#039;t stand the thought of a guy giving me something that I can get for myself. It makes me feel like I need special treatment because I%26#039;m a woman, and that%26#039;s the worst feeling in the world, if you ask me. The only time I want to be pampered is when I go to a day spa.
Reply:no! it just proves that you are not materialistic and that you don%26#039;t allow someone to buy your affection! you are in it for the true relationship and nothing more! that is a great trait to have!
Reply:not strange at all, sounds like a nice guy too, you should stay with him
Reply:not at all.i kinda prefer a guy to NOT spoil me either bc then it makes me feel spoiled or lyk i need to do SUMTHIN ELSE for him.plus then when he DOES spoil u its more personal.its not JUST bc ur his gf.u know?
Reply:i guess that is just ur likes n others dislike. i dont want to b pampered wit gifts but i need my man %26#039;s attention. that is just the way ur baby was brought up or how he made himself or someone nade him but if u comfortable wats the proble u not strange we all jus different
Reply:Everyone likes to be pampered in some ways. Maybe not with flowers or dinner, but it is nice when a guy helps you with the groceries or opens the door when your hands are full. If the guy is not a flower/gift guy then that is fine, be he must show you in some way that he cares, otherwise the relationship is not going anywhere.
