What gifts do women buy for guys?

Valentines day is coming up and a lot of guys always buy women flowers or chocolates, what are the stereotypical gifts that a woman would buy for a guy?

What gifts do women buy for guys?
A stereotypical gift I guess is buying silk boxer shorts or buying lingerie for myself and surprising him. But I hate cheesy gifts like that.

For past Valentine%26#039;s days I%26#039;ve made extra special home cooked meals with dessert. I usually don%26#039;t buy him a gift other than that, and he%26#039;s never given me a gift for Valentine%26#039;s day, either.

Edit@Johno: I love robots and remote control things!! I want a mini remote control helicopter. http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/rc/934... My husband already has a full-sized remote helicopter, but it requires too much space. Maybe I%26#039;ll get him a mini one and then I can play with it, too. Sorry you got dumped, but at least it saved you from the trouble of having to do it yourself (if you know what I mean). Hehehe.
Reply:Have they been giving gifts for so long that there are stereotypical gifts for guys?

I don%26#039;t think women know what to get.

A good bottle of wine and a picnic lunch?

Red silk boxers?

A gift certificate for a massage?

A favorite CD?

A pair of tickets to something - sports or theater?

Hell, I don%26#039;t know.

C. :)
Reply:I don%26#039;t know about sterotypical gifts, but I just get jewellery, dvd%26#039;s , video games etc that my husband likes and some sexy underwear for him!
Reply:Cologne
Reply:I%26#039;m buying my boyfriend Larry some Three Stooges lounge pants. He collects Three Stooges memorabilia.

Shhh!!!!
Reply:Books. Always books. Which I prefer.

A book that reflects your interests is a way of saying, %26quot;Not only do I put up with it when you drone on and on about boring things, I actually paid enough attention to choose a book you%26#039;d like.%26quot;

To me, that%26#039;s love.
Reply:I buy chocolates for my guy, he loves them. I had one partner who felt bad that he had never gotten flowers, so I got him flowers all the time, he loved it. I%26#039;ve bought music, a book, outdoor gear, whatever I knew they really wanted but hadn%26#039;t gotten for themself. I hate clothes and appliances as gifts, so I never have given those.
Reply:I%26#039;ve gotten my husband flowers as well, but it depends on your budget and your guy%26#039;s interests. I%26#039;ve done %26quot;coupons,%26quot; these can be customized for the two of you, for lovin%26#039; redeemable any time, or gift certificates for something cool, like an activity (i.e. I once got my hubby a gc for sky diving in San Fran). Depending on your location, you could do ballroom dancing lessons, a massage, etc. www.etsy.com has some awesome and very unique, handmade gifts, and as for the activity gift certificates, check out this website: www.xperiencedays.com

Enjoy!
Reply:Sweaters, CD%26#039;s, underwear (xD), watches, a video game? I suggest a sweater, however.
Reply:The first valentine%26#039;s day I spent with my hubby while we were dating I took him to a monster truck rally! I had a ball! We have been together for 10 years and each year I have given him gifts I know he will like. One year it was basketball tickets, another year it was a CD burner ( he is really into computers). I think the best gift I ever gave him though was telling him I was pregnant with our second son over dinner. :) He says that is his favorite!
Reply:I tend to try to get my husband something fun - something that is both fun and practical, or something that will excite the child in him...

I have to admit I%26#039;ve gotten him a lot of stuff from ThinkGeek.com

I also get gifts for my guy friends here - and so far they%26#039;ve all been a big hit!

They have marshmallow shooters and blasters, awesome laser tag, tons of R/C products including Sumo Wrestlers and Jousting Knights, yes I got my hubby a lightsaber, and he has a titanium spork! They also have multi-tools, USB items, watches, and other more practical items.

I am so sorry you were dumped after giving your gf a robot! What a fun and original gift. Maybe you should have put a rose in its hand... but still - lol.

I%26#039;m not sure what I%26#039;m going to get my husband for Valentine%26#039;s Day yet. I%26#039;ll probably go take a look at ThinkGeek again - they always have new stuff. They have a pretty big caffeine section and I think I might get something there.

I guess the trick with Valentine%26#039;s Day is guessing what your significant other would like - based on how well you know them. I think the more you know someone, the more free you are to venture away from stereotypical gifts like flowers and chocolates and start purchasing other things that they would like.
Reply:Dildoes and strap-ons to use on him. ;-)

Haha! I keed.

I haven%26#039;t celebrated Valentine%26#039;s day for about 9 years now.

At first, my ex thought this was strange, as he had been used to the ritualistic gift buying for his exes, but later realised that I prefer to celebrate love in %26quot;our own ways%26quot; during the rest of the year than on a holiday for a saint, when I%26#039;m not even religious, hehe. I don%26#039;t celebrate holidays, but with a few exceptions.

When I would buy or make him gifts, they always revolved around his interests and the things I knew he enjoyed most, and I liked to surprise, not the routine gift giving, just not my cup of tea, I have nothing against anyone who does it though.

Do the same with anyone else I have or will gift something, always considering their interests.
Reply:I think stereotypical would be a cooked meal, right? I usually buy my SO media things for special occasions- he loves TV show DVD box sets. If I don%26#039;t make something special for dinner, then I take him out to dinner at a place he likes.
Reply:if you%26#039;re in a relationship, they dress up
Reply:The last gift I bought for a guy was socks. He asked for them, so don%26#039;t laugh. I also burned a CD for a guy that had the soundtrack to our favourite musical on it. I figure burned CDs will be very popular choices.
